Wilhelm Kåge (1889-1960) for Gustavsberg. Two Argenta Art Deco dishes in glazed ceramics. Beautiful glaze in shades of green with silver inlay. 1940s.
Made in Sweden 1930s at Gustavsberg factory, was designed by the painter and ceramicist Wilhelm Kåge. The name Argenta comes from the Latin Argentum and indicates the silver painting used to bring the mottled ceramic pieces to life. In good condition with no chips or cracks. One with a darker glaze but both have the same silver deco floral motif in the center.
These catchall dishes are wonderful for so many uses. Use bedside to drop your earrings or change in. Sweet little soap dishes in a guest bath. Perfect size to use as a coaster for your highballs. And make wonderful hostess gifts.
