Hand-carved giltwood surrounds the mirror accented with stylized foliate and shell accents on all sides, but the crown is particularly impressive, featuring a pierce-carved artwork centered with a fanciful acanthus plume modeled after a scallop shell surrounded by scrollwork and foliates, and crowned at the top with an acanthus flourish. The aged patina of the gold finish adds a Old World effect that cannot be denied!
