When we acquired it the top had heavily flaking paint that was stuck to the underside of the glass, and the deep red paint on the sides and ends was chipped in numerous spots. The paint was painstakingly removed from the top over a two day period, while being careful not to damage the abalone or copper pieces. The wood was then sanded and stained, and the result looks excellent. The graphics are in very good shape, with all abalone shell and copper bands intact. The glass that sits on top of this area has only some light scratches, less than one would expect for a 70 year old table top. It sits less than .25" above the wood on the bottom, right and top left corners. The black edging around the glass was removed and repainted, it was then reinstalled using the same nails. The front, back, sides, and legs were repainted the same color as the original. There are some dings in the wood that now blend in well after being repainted. There is a drawer in the center of the front side. It is presently very tight, and if it were to be used often it could use some planing on the sides for smoother movement (this may happen before it's shipped out). The drawer is in good condition and the interior has the original manufacturer's plaque and a model number tag. The table's ends are good overall, and the graphics look fine. The backside is damage free, but the paint is not as smooth as on the front and sides. The underside of the table is good structurally and looks fine. The only real area found to point out is the fact that one of the back legs has a piece missing. It stands properly on the floor, and the paint helps it to not stand out. The other three legs are fine. The table is very solid with no wobbling, and it stands straight, level and solid on the floor. less

*** The glass was removed for some of the pictures due to the glare it produced. It was hard to get quality pictures because of reflections, and it is safe to say that this piece looks better in real life.
