Pablo Picasso is probably the most important figure of 20th century, in term of art, and art movements that occurred over this period. To say that Pablo Picasso conquered western art is, by today, the merest usual place. Before the age of 50, the Spanish born artist had become the most well known name in modern art, with the most distinct style and eye for artistic creation. There had been no other artists, prior to Picasso, who had such an impact on the art world, or had a mass following of fans and critics alike, as he did.
Pablo Picasso was born in Magala, Span, in 1881, and had created a mass collection of works during the extensive course of his career. In fact, by the time he died in France, in 1973, over 22,000 pieces of his work had been found. These pieces included paintings, sculpture work, and a series of graphic design work which he had created over the course of his career. Over the extensive career, Picasso had a hand in every art form and movement that came through, during the 20th century. Not only that, he also co-founded cubism, which was one of the most popular movements during the 20th century, and was what he was most well known for with most of the works he created.
When Picasso died at age 91 in April 1973, he had become one of the most famous and successful artist throughout history. He was, and still is, seen as a magician by writers and critics, a metaphor that captures both the sense of an artist who is able to transform everything around him at a touch and a man who can also transform himself, elude us, fascinate and mesmerize us. Even as of today, his life and works continue to invite countless scholarly interpretation and attract thousands of followers around the world. less
