A wonderful, small (approx 4 x 6”) antique French watercolor featuring a tree on a path. Brittany school, early 1900s. Sourced from a fine art dealer in Copenhagen who purchased it directly from the artist’s estate in Paris.
This gem has been in the artist’s sketchbook for decades and the colors are pristine. There is a slight arc to the paper and darkening and errant marks on the reverse. Also, a French stamp in cursive, possibly identifying maker of the paper.
Unusually vibrant colors for its age. Visible strokes. Signed on recto. Under gallery acrylic (not pictured).
The frame is French; an antique sourced from a dealer in Normandy. Shows wonderful wear and patina. Please see conditions description below.
