Aventurine, as its name suggests, is a decoration made by "aventitius" surface effects with flecks of copper or gold, a 15th Century technique. The body also exhibits a soft twirling veining, resting a subtle variant texture throughout.

The Barovier family from Murano, Italy, have been world leaders in glass production since the Middle Ages. The Company was founded in 1295. In 1939 the company merged with the Toso family to become “Barovier & Toso”. The glasshouses on the island of Murano, like Barovier & Toso, are famous for florid glassworks made of pincered and molded blown glass.
