An original colored on the plate aquatint etching by Alfred Hadley, British print maker first half of the 20th century, … Read more An original colored on the plate aquatint etching by Alfred Hadley, British print maker first half of the 20th century, "The Flagstaff" scene of two two-masted sailing ships in a calm estuary, the background contains rolling fields, in the foreground is a tall flagstaff below which are houses facing the estuary, 10 1/4" x 9", "AH" monogram in the plate and the artist's signature below the left corner of the plate. CA number 3953, CA purchased the print from a British auction house summer of 2024. Title written on the reverse of the old matting. The print was probably executed in the 1920's or 1930's.
The print has been surface cleaned, rematted in Soft White Museum matboard, lined, Conservation Clear Glass, museum backing, framed with 3/4" antiqued gold moulding.
Biographical information cannot be found on Alfred Hadley. He was an excellent printmaker, British and worked prior to World War II. See less
