This beauty’s inspiration appears to be copied from the iconic Art Nouveau inspired ceramic centerpiece designed by Michael Mortl in Vienna around 1910 that depicted twelve geese in a circle to form a bowl. The “circle of geese” you see in the photos was crafted in Japan sometime in the mid 20th-century. Handcrafted from earthenware with a lustrous highly glazed finish, it measures 9” x 6¼” x 6¼” W/D/H; interior 6” x 3¾” x 5½” W/D/H; weight 2 lbs. 15 oz.; color is a luminous off-white with the palest cream undertone. In excellent condition with minimal age-appropriate wear. There is uniform age-related crazing that is not unusual for pottery of this age and it is complementary to the overall aesthetic of the cachepot’s look-and-feel. The Ardalt-Lenwile foil label is affixed on the underside. It’s a whimsical piece that will complement any design style and add a dash of panache wherever placed!
