Description: As I may have mentioned, the highboy form of the early 18th century is one of my favorite types of … more As I may have mentioned, the highboy form of the early 18th century is one of my favorite types of period furniture over the years. When I look at this particular English Queen Anne highboy I’m struck by its incredible burl walnut veneer, which is outlined with hand cut herringbone banding. All of this has taken on a deep, rich, patina and beautiful polish over the years. The case is crowned with a molded and veneered cornice above five drawers in the upper case, The separate lower case again with a beautifully original veneered mid-mold. The single drawer is above an arcaded or shaped apron resting on boldly proportioned cabriole legs with pad feet. The brass is a beautiful engraved, correct style set, but later to the piece. No major replacements. less
