Imperfections Noted - It has an Assortment of Age and Use Related Chips at the Top Rim Perimeter. NOTE That the Largest Top Rim Chip Above the Right Flower is Glazed Over Confirming that it Would Have Occurred in the Making - Kiln Firing Process. There is Also a Very Faint Surface Hairline that Extends Down from that Same Glazed Chip Ending at the Top of the Flower that Would Have Occurred at the Same Time. Note Also that on the Inside Brown Glazed Interior Directly Behind the Large Glazed Chip there is a Crease - Surface Line Imperfection that is Not a Crack with a Surface Chip in the Same Area that is Also a Kiln Glaze. By the way These Types of Stoneware Items were Fired in Large Kilns with Many Other Pieces at the Same Time and These and Other Types of Kiln Flaws are Quite Common.. less

This Really is a Great Looking Authentic Antique American Primitive Stoneware Storage Crock. Circa Mid 19th Century. It has a Classic American Rusty Sand Color Salt Glaze Exterior. The Front has a Very Large and Beautiful Blue Hand Decorated Stylized Double Flower Design. The Front is Embossed with the Well Documented Makers Name - N. CLARK JR - ATHENS NEW YORK. It is Also Embossed with the Number 2 Denoting it Two Gallon Storage Capacity. These type of Crocks were Commonly Used to Store a Variety Food and Other Items. It is in Strong - Sound - Usable Condition - No Structural Cracks - Displays Very Nicely. Imperfections Noted - It has an Assortment of Age and Use Related Chips at the Top Rim Perimeter.
