This Sol LeWitt rare vintage 2000 Modernist custom framed extra large offset lithograph print " Bands ( Not Straight ) in Four Directions " 1999, is an incredibly special and unique piece to add to your collection.
The Modernist fine art print is published by Nouvelles Images S.A., printed in France in 2000 in an unnumbered limited edition. It features an artwork image originally created by LeWitt in 1999 titled " Bands ( Not Straight ) in Four Directions ", Bernard Jacobson Gallery, London / copyright ADAGP, Paris 2000.
Solomon " Sol " LeWitt ( 1928 - 2007 ) was an American artist of a Russian Jewish background, linked to various movements, including Conceptual Art and Minimalism. LeWitt came to fame in the late 1960's with his Wall Drawings and " Structures " but was prolific in a wide range of mediums including drawing, printmaking, photography, painting, installation, and artist's books. Artworks by LeWitt have been the subject of hundreds of solo exhibitions in many of the most prestigious museums and galleries around the world since 1965.
One of the most important American artists of The 20th Century, Sol LeWitt spent decades creating artworks that explore the potential ideas for making visual forms. He transformed these ideas into objects of exquisite beauty and elegance, deliberately introducing elements of chance and intuition into the creation of his works. His delicate balancing act between thought and form, between order and disorder, between authorship and anonymity, has exerted an enormous influence of artists of subsequent generations.
The rare out of print Modernist framed extra large format offset lithograph print measures 39 5/8" W X 20" H X 1" D. It is custom framed with UV protective plexiglass in a Contemporary Modern variegated dark charcoal gray black woodgrain style matte eggshell finish metal frame molding, with an attached hanging wire on the reverse back side for easy wall installation.
It is in excellent " like new " condition. The print is in excellent " like new " clean vintage condition consistent with age, very light signs of handling, and very light minor wear.
