We are selling this rare possibly very early Hand Colored map of the Western Hemisphere. MERCATOR, Michael (c.1567-1600). America sive India Nova. Amsterdam: 1595 [but 1606 or later]. Hand-coloured engraved circular map of the western hemisphere, (360 x 456mm). The map surrounded by 3 inset circular maps of Cuba, Haiti and the Gulf of Mexico in each corner, the title set in the fourth, all within spandrel decoration. From a prominent Massachusetts estate.
Condition: Very good antique condition with only minor wear and some small creases.
