A painted wood carving of a character by listed 20th century artist Duff Tweed. This piece presents a wood carving of a smiling figure in medium relief with the Wall Street Journal in his coat pocket. The carving is mounted on a collage of Wall Street Journal articles on newsprint. It is signed by hand to the lower left of the composition and presented in a wood frame wired to hang, with a personal inscription to the verso which was trademark style of the artist
Duff Tweed Carvings
Duffield Tweed, born in Canada, was an original animator for Walt Disney Studios where he worked on Alice in Wonderland, Song of the South, Cinderella and Lady and the Tramp. Representing Disney Studios on a national TV tour made him an unofficial goodwill ambassador for Disney. Wood carving clients included: H.L. Hunt, Gene Autry, Ernest Breech, chairman of the board for Ford Motor Co, and many well-known people over the entire United States. less
