Ward Bennett (1917-2003) was a noted outside designer that Tiffany's first engaged as an experiment. In the 1960s, Bennett was retained to design china, glassware, and silver. His sterling flatware and accessories, ashtrays, salt and pepper shakers, and coasters for candles were introduced on table settings at the store in New York City in the fall of 1972 and the company's catalogue, the Blue Book, for that year. This silver-plated bowl with the hallmark "Ward Bennett Design," was produced independently, and reveals the skillful modeling of form stripped of superfluous ornament and the clean lines for which he was known. less
