This desk … more We are pleased to offer this Gorgeous Antique French Louis XVI very heavy Writing Desk, from the 1880s.
This desk is made of Walnut & Satinwood Marquetry inlay, featuring original built in Center Clock surmounting an open cubby with single shelf, flanked by two original leather book-spine fronted secret doors over two small dovetailed drawers with original handles.
In order to open the secret doors you will have to press the hidden lock located inside the open cubby ( picture number 6).
New felt writing surface over four larger dovetailed drawers, Drawers are clean and slides in and out smoothly.
Supported by four sturdy legs decorated with bronze mounts and ending with bronze feet.
Completely restored ( Refinished hand French polish), New Felt writing surface, very sturdy and in very good condition.
Original clock doesn't work.
One original key, NOTE: one of the original locks doesn't work.
