This piece is in very good overall physical condition and looks nice from all angles. It was owned by the same family since new, and digging back some into the history it was established (by the daughter) that it was purchased somewhere between 1910 and 1915. The rocker has just been gone over in detail in a search for any damage or excessive wear, and it has been repainted. It was originally close to the same color, and the paint had worn on the arms and other contact points. The new paint brought it back to what it supposed to look like, and it came out very nice. The inspection revealed that there is little to point out. There are some small nail holes on the underside of the rungs, and there is what may be an old crack in the left, front "foot" area. This was covered by the original paint, and it does not go through, so it was not determined if it is a crack or not. Either way, it is small, and does not stand out. The rest of the wood is damage free top to bottom, with little wear to be found. The horizontal pieces on the backrest, the arms, the seat and the base are all very solid with no wobbling or creaking found. The metal pieces are virtually free of any corrosion, and the springs function as they should. The upholstery on the front and back of the back rest is all in very good condition, and there is some light wear to the seat area. The underside of the seat is fine, and the caster wheels look good and operate properly. Please see the pictures for further details.
*** The hazy white areas near the bottom that can be seen in some of the pictures are reflections of the white surface the rocker was sitting on.
