This Marcel Vertes rare vintage 1957 " Two Ballerinas " large fine art color lithograph print is a very special and unique piece to add to your collection. The large format lithograph print is published by Penn prints New York, printed in 1957 in an unnumbered limited edition. It features an Expressionist style artwork created by the artist Marcel Vertes in a beautiful vibrant multicolor palette.
Marcel Vertes ( 1895 - 1961 ) was a French costume designer, painter, illustrator, and printmaker of Hungarian descent, he was an important artist in the Paris art scene of the 1920's. Vertes won two Academy awards for his work in art direction and costume design on the 1952 film Moulin Rouge about the life and times of the artist Henri De Toulouse Lautrec. Vertes is also responsible for the creation of original murals in the Cafe Carlyle in The Carlyle Hotel in new York City, and for those in the Peacock Alley in Waldorf Astoria Hotel in New York.
The rare out of print large format lithograph print measures 20" W X 24 3/4" H, with an image area of 18" W X 22 3/4" H. It is printed on high quality heavyweight smooth finish paper stock.
It is in excellent vintage condition consistent with age and light signs of handling. It has never been framed. There is some light visible wear to the margin border edge and corner areas.
