This neighbourhood in Milan was once working class. It is now trendy. Gentrification has affected so many charming, olden days, locations. Just think of Harlem or the East Village.

My grandmother, from whom this photo comes, left no notes about it. I enjoy it tremendously though. Although it is not dated, you can tell that regular Milanese people lived here. You can see that there appear to be tomatoes growing and the courtyard is swept and tidy. Likely the families who lived here would gather in the evening to discuss the day's events.
