But these facts do not detract from this wonderful painting. I love the two girls, or are they boys? Their courtly dress is done with fine attention to detail, like the gold trim and frog closures. The dog wants to play, as I'm sure the children do as well. Another mystery is why a lemon is being held? I also find that the stark, black background allows the subject matter to pop from the canvas.

This picture could be lovely in a child's room. Or any bedroom. Perhaps the living room?

Of all my grandmother's prints, this may be my favourite, although it is very difficult to choose!
