Most Mid-Century Modern walnut furniture that people say or believe is solid wood is actually not, it's veneered. This piece however definitely has all solid American Black Walnut exposed woods including the top, sides, drawer fronts, legs etc. which indicates very high quality furniture that will basically last forever. Bottom line if you can't see the end grain of the wood then it's not solid wood. Even the big name American mcm furniture makers basically never made all solid wood case pieces Drexel, Broyhill, Lane, Henredon, Heritage etc. as it is much cheaper to manufacture furniture with some solid wood around the edges with the top and sides and drawer fronts veneered. Matched drawer fronts are made by sawing thin veneer strips from the same board so if all the drawers fronts have matching patterns it's also veneered. less
