He was a famous Barbizon School Painter in the mid-nineteenth and early twentieth century. He was a prolific painter who did some portraits and nudes, but he excelled at Landscape Art. He first exhibited his paintings at the famous Salon, where many Parisian artists were first discovered.

This painting is very typical amongst Trouillebert's landscapes. He places a cluster of trees to one side and expands from that point. Here he allows for a wide sky to dominate the painting, giving it a lighter feel.
