He was considered an Academic Painter, having studied Academie Julian in Paris. In addition to painting in the Academic style, Seignac also displayed Grecian themes and styles. He was adept at depicting diaphanous drapery, partially covering a woman's nude body, reminiscent of classical styles. Beginning in 1897, Seignac regularly exhibited his work at the Salon in Paris.

This painting, "Odalisque" meaning concubine, is very typical of Seignac's work. He did many using the same theme. I have seen another of his paintings using the same model, but she is reclined in the opposite direction.

This is another of my favourites. The blue on the sofa is delicious!
