The barrel shaped shakers each feature a white porcelain body with a perforated walnut top. Both are unmarked.

Michael Lax attended New York School of Music and Art, Alfred University, and studied Scandinavian modern design on a Fulbright Fellowship. Lax worked with Russel Wright and was widely known for designing many household products for Dansk and Lightolier, among others. The Lytegem lamp and enamel-coated tea kettle he designed are part of permanent Museum collections. less
