A beautiful original American Impressionist Landscape oil painting by John Bickford. Oil on canvas measuring 24" x 30" signed lower right presented in a quality gold finish frame measuring overall 29" x 35".
Artist Biography:
John Bickford is a graduate of the Phillips Exeter Academy and of Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). He has studied painting at MIT with Gyorgy Kepes, at the Yale Summer Art School, the Vesper George School of Art, The Famous Artists’ Correspondence School, and the Hartford Art School.
He has also participated in painting workshops given by Charles Sovek, Louise Bourne, William Vrsak, Frank Frederico, Robert Seifert, Ann Templeton, and John Massimino.
Bickford was President of the Art Guild of Middletown, CT; member of the Arts and Crafts Association of Meriden, CT; Hamden Art League; Upcountry Artists of Farmington, ME; Lyme Art Association, Academic Artists Association, and the New Haven Paint and Clay Club.
Bickford also exhibits his work at shows in Maine and Connecticut.
He has received numerous awards including: Best in Show at Bethel, ME and Meriden, CT; First Prize at the Farmington Art in the Park, etc. In 2001 he won an award for the ‘best traditional portrait’ at the annual exhibit of the Academic Artists Association in Springfield, Mass.
He has taught drawing, painting and printmaking. He is the author of New Techniques in Printmaking, published by Watson Guptill in New York; and is a Contributing Editor to The Artists Magazine.
John lives in Middletown, CT and has spent summers or summer vacations in Rangeley Plantation, ME since 1959. He paints portraits and still lifes, but the bulk of his work consists of landscape paintings of Western Maine. less
