The person I bought them from kept telling me how comfortable they were. She didn't lie.

Why these are great: Pubs chairs often have more ornate spindles. These are unadorned, which seems to reflect the no-nonsense Quaker influence here in the Philly area.

There are no maker's marks on these, but the screws would indicate that they were made around the mid 20th-century. I'm unsure of the wood, but my best guess is walnut. (However, pub chairs are often made of pine, so I wouldn't rule it out.) All four chairs are wobble-free and sit flush on the ground.

These are beautifully aged, showing wear in all the right places. I have included representative pix of the arm and foot rests where the wear is most obvious. less
