Tall Sheaf of Wheat table lamp attributed to the Hollywood Regency decorative lamp and lighting fixture icon designer Frederick Cooper.. circa 1950s. The Sheaf of Wheat has stood as a symbol of success and wealth for decades. It's been used by the furniture industries leading designers as the base for tables, wall sconces, candelabras, candlesticks, embroidered on cloth napkins and has been the inspiration for the hourglass shape that continues to thrive and revive all manners of design, It has old Hollywood glamour underscored with Italian elegance. The lamp is mostly highlighted in gold but the wheat stems have a silver finish that is exquisite. The lampshade that is shown in the last three images was not original to the lamp but pictured to offer a sense of proportion as originally intended. The lampshade has suffered a few noticeable fragility driven tears and has been permanently retired. No lampshade is included with the sale.
The rounded plinth base is approximately 6.5 " in diameter and is made of wood with a gold highlighted plaster embellishment. Stacked metal ornaments at the top and bottom of strands of metal wheat that are tied with a metal twisted rope make up the full center of the table lamp with a 3 inch faux white candle sleeve before the lighting fixture chassis is nestled in between the arms of the 10" harp and the 1" tall simple tubular shaped finial that reaches 38" tall.
The cord as updated from European eclectic cords to match American standard wiring at some point in its lifetime. less
