Hand signed on … more A powerful graphite and watercolor drawing on paper titled “Ghost Dancers” by American Southwest artist Paul Pletka. Hand signed on the bottom right and dated 1970. A masterful dual portraiture of two Indigenous male figures. There is a heroic quality in their eyes yet also a haunting effect as they seem to be fading away. Referring to the title “Ghost Dancers,” the Ghost Dance is a ceremony incorporated into numerous Native American belief systems. According to the teachings of the Northern Paiute spiritual leader Wovoka, proper practice of the dance would reunite the living with spirits of the dead, bring the spirits to fight on their behalf, end American Westward expansion, and bring peace, prosperity, and unity to Native American peoples throughout the region. A classic composition by Pletka using elements of Abstract Expressionism and Surrealism to illustrate the history and mythology found within Native cultures. Paul Pletka’s (1946- ) work is to be found in more than 40 private and public art collections, including in the Albany Museum of Art, Albany, GA; Hallmark Cards, Kansas City, MO; Mel Pfaelzer Collection, University of Northern Illinois, De Kalb; the Norton Gallery & School of Art, West Palm Beach, FL; the United States Department of Interior, Washington, D.C.; and in the Albuquerque Art Museum, New Mexico. - Upon inspection, If you decide not to move forward with the purchase, you or your agent must refuse the item at the time of pickup/delivery from the seller
- Once you have taken possession of the item, all sales are final
- International, cross-border returns may require different processes depending on the countries between which the item is shipping to/from, and the buyer is responsible and duties (if applicable, on cross-border orders).

Cancellations

- Chairish Express In-Home deliveries are currently only offered for international cross-border shipments.

- Deliveries can take anywhere from 6 to 9 weeks to be delivered.
- Chairish Freight Delivery
- Delivered in a crate, to your front door.
- You will need tools and/or equipment to open the crate.

- Chairish Freight deliveries can take anywhere from 4 to 8 weeks.
