Made of Exotic Ebony wood with … more Spectacular 19thc French Antique Boulle Lap/ Table Desk with Palpable History and Superb Craftsmanship. Made of Exotic Ebony wood with Mother Of Pearl and Brass Inlays. The Mother Of Pearl inlaid dots and crosses are truly a sight to behold. There are hundreds of them.
Original key present and it locks and unlocks this Lap Desk. Initials on the bottom lid are "WR" These initials most likely belong to the old owner which are written on the bottom of the desk - "Wealthy Ann Ro___"
Deep Indigo Blue Velvet inside. The pen compartment has a small bone knob. There is room for letters and inkwell. This is a very unique/ collectible Antique!
There is a pencil annotation shown in one of the photos that reads "Given to Mother by Stuart Story. December 25th 1945. I assume Stuart was a Soldier in World War !! who may have bought this piece in France or elsewhere in Europe. less
