Created before electricity was available, this sconce was originally used as a candle holder, with the light of the candle flame intensified by the reflecting mirrored backplate; now electrified, having a lion mask bracket ejecting three scroll arms terminating in faux candle covers, with a beveled glass mirror plate framed by an ornate gilt bronze border, over a rectangular wooden panel in faux tortoise-shell black and dark red paint stain finish, surmounted by a fancy protruding Rococo pierced fiolated scroll flourish figural spread wing eagle finial.

Condition:
Very good antique condition with nicely aged warm rich patina. Light fixture works as it should. Attractive appearance, some metalwork likely re-gilded, brilliant gold tone, nicely patinated metal with some spots of oxidation. Minor small scattered dark age spots to mirror. Since it was later electrified, the wiring is external/exposed and concealed using wire. Heavy wire to verso for wall hanging.
