- These handsome, hefty, and imposing glasses measure a full 8 inches tall. The cut crystal design is called "American Heritage" … more These handsome, hefty, and imposing glasses measure a full 8 inches tall. The cut crystal design is called "American Heritage" and takes its inspiration from many historic glasses of the Federal period. Produced by the St. George glassworks, the design somewhat resembles Waterford's Maxwell pattern with which these glasses are occasionally confused.. They can be used as wine glasses or as water goblets. (The glasses will hold approximately 4 1/2 ounces when filled as wine glasses and approximately 6 ounces when filled as water glasses..) Replacements or additions can often be found through other on-line sources, such as Replacements Ltd. The pictures show eight glasses although the listing is for five glasses. Five of the glasses appear to be in absolutely pristine condition with no nicks, cracks, scratches, cloudiness, or other imperfections. We have discovered miniscule flaws on the bases of three glasses. These flaws were difficult to capture with any clarity in photographs, and they were certainly too minor to justify discarding the glasses. Furthermore, those imperfections are not particularly easy to find. Nonetheless, because those three glasses are not perfect, we have calculated the price of this set based on the five glasses without flaws (5 glasses @ $8.20 per glass). The three glasses with imperfections will be sent to you gratis, and we are calling this a "set of five plus three" despite sending you the full eight glasses. less
