Very fine and rare gilded Buddhist manuscript of the finest quality - a bound piece suitable for hanging on walls. Makes an absolutely stunning and eye catching display.
Made in Mandalay, Kingdom of Burma, Late 19th Century. This manuscript is beautifully decorated on both sides of each palm leaf - with black ‘magyi zi’ lacquer (made with tamarind seed) and red lacquer with 24 carat gold. Complete with its original wooden covers.
Lavishly adorned with mythical creatures and animals.
Consists of 16 pages in total plus two wooden covers.
Mandaley period of Burma, circa 19th Century. A period of greatness for the country.

Good condition with expected abrasions and losses as can be seen in the photos, due to the age and usage.
Each panel 22"x5". Cover slightly larger. 22.5x5.5". Total drop approx 114". less
