Tord Boontje, a Dutch industrial product designer, graduated with a master’s degree from the Royal College of Art in London, and has been associated with that institution since in design capacities. His Shadowy Collection was inspired by the beach furniture used by beach goers at the North Sea of Northern Europe in the 1920s. This chaise is a prototype. The frame is painted and varnished steel, and the threads are polyethylene. The chairs are woven by expert African craftsmen.
