This unique piece was handcrafted in the Central African Republic, is perfect for collectors and enthusiasts of antique African folk art.
This antique African Sudanese Manding arm dagger knife scabbard is a unique piece that will surely be a great addition to any collection. The blade material is believed to be steel, and the cutting edge is a double edge. The handle is made of high-quality leather, and the color of the knife is multi-colored. This dagger is an original piece. This is a genuine old leather sheathed dagger. Made by the Manding people who are indigenous to the Western Sudan region of Africa. Wooden hilt. Woven leather grip & sheath. Leather fringe is still pretty supple. Blade is a copper color, very smooth - I don’t believe this is rust. Not sure of blade metal. Blade is very dull. One leather strap that connects to the button-like fastener is disconnected & needs repair. The knife's sheath is woven leather, and it is believed to have been manufactured in the Central African Republic. This collectible item is perfect for knife enthusiasts, collectors, or anyone who appreciates the beauty and uniqueness of antique weapons. These swords are used with one hand and typically carried as a side sword in its elaborate scabbard. That means the Manding isn’t a fairly long sword. Not all Manding were made with the intention of combat and were more ornamental and pieces that traders could wear around on their waists to represent wealth and status. Because it was often carried, it was a lightweight sword. less
