Beaded prestige staff from the Tutsi people of Rwanda. Intricate design of white and cobalt blue glass beads, which made their way into east Central Africa in the 19th c. Tutsi artisans known for their weaving quickly developed an expertise in making beaded objects for both regalia and jewelry. This luxury item was popular among the Tutsi elite from the early to mid 20th c.
