This artwork plunges us into an introspective contemplation where the subtlety of the details explores the limits of abstraction. Judiciously playing with attenuated contrasts and pure lines, it distills a sensation of movement framed by an aesthetic of darkness.
The watercolor, which is not signed, raises the question of visibility and presence in which the symbolism of the night becomes a vector of meaning. At the crossroads between abstraction and cubism, colors and light play a central role.
An interesting parallel with studies on chiaroscuro appears in this nocturnal atmosphere. This technique typically plays on sharp contrasts between light and shadow.
