Beautiful and rare, vintage Murano hand blown Pulegoso bubbles, gray, black and gold flecks Italian art glass poodle puppy dog sculpture. Documented to designer Alfredo Barbini, circa 1950-1960 and published in his Weil Ceramics and Glass catalog. The original label is still attached to the bottom, and reads "Venetian - Made By Alfredo Barbini for Weil Ceramics & Glass - Murano Italy". The dog is highly detailed, even with eyelashes over the eyes (one side chipped, see last photo). It has a black inner core, so the bubbles layer makes it look gray. Each of the paws also have black inside them. The outer layer of clear glass has been sculpted to reflect a fur texture. Also, has gold leaf on the black collar. Would make a great display piece on any desk, dresser or curio cabinet. Mid-century era. A must for the dog lover and Barbini collector. Also has pads underneath so they label does not scratch further. Measures: 8 1/2" tall x 8" long x 3 3/4" wide.
