Retains … more An elegant marquetry inlaid French cabinet of tulipwood. Nice quality, good timbers, finely executed floral marquetry, oak secondary wood. Retains label from Paris cabinetmakers Mercier, Frères, Rue du Faubourg St. Antoine in the top drawer. Mercier Frères was a respected family furniture making enterprise first established in 1828, known for high quality craftsmanship, winning medals at the Expositions Universelles in Paris of the 19th century and boasting of a roster of top tier clients. This piece has both cabinet space and three drawers, and well as a writing slide with a green leather surface. Early 20th century. Good antique condition with a few veneer restorations, light wear to the marble top. Good finish and hardware.
