A set of 10 ceramic chargers or chop plates manufactured by the Homer Laughlin China Company in 1998. Featuring the Monte Carlo rolled edge 8062 pattern which is one of the 10 designs from Riviera collection (see catalog photo for reference). The lead free design has been discontinued and was produced from 1998 until 2020.
The Homer Laughlin China Company is still, today, the U.S.A.'s largest producer of china. Some of the plants have been abandoned and closed but the company still operates at the Newell, West Virginia site.
The foodservice divisions and brand names of The Homer Laughlin China Company (HLC) and the Hall China Company were acquired by Steelite International. The Homer Laughlin China Company was renamed as The Fiesta® Tableware Company
They developed a special date code for the back stamp. The first letter represents the year. A=1960. B=1961, and so on. Z=1985. When 1986 came around, two letters were used; AA. BB=1987, CC=1988,... ZZ=2011. The next letter either an A, B, C, or D to represent the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th quarters respectively. According to this, the set was made on the 4th quarter of 1998.
