This Andy Warhol rare vintage 1986 limited edition Myth Series large fine art lithograph print " Mickey Mouse " 1981, is an incredibly special and unique piece to add to your collection.
The fine art lithograph print is published by The Carnegie Museum of Art ( CMOA ) in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania, the city of Warhol's birthplace. printed in a series of limited edition color lithograph prints by the museum in 1986. The print is signed in the plate, hand numbered 1565/2400 from the edition of 2400, CMOA stamp on the reverse back side. It features an artwork image originally created by Warhol in 1981 titled " Mickey Mouse ".
Andy Warhol ( 1928 - 1987 ) is one of the singularly most well known Contemporary artists of all time. His imagery is recognized worldwide. His infamous life, art works, and creative endeavors are like no other artist. He is credited as the very first artist to use common everyday objects and view them in a completely different way while paying homage to their role in our society. Glorifying the common as the beautiful. His technique utilizing a silkscreen method combined with hand finishing in a signature palette of vibrant color hues make the work stand on its own and loved by millions.
Warhol's Mickey Mouse is from The " Myths " Series of artworks created in 1981 that exemplifies his nostalgia for America's enchanted past, and love of his heroic childhood idols. For his selection of subjects for The Myths Portfolio of ten fictional characters from Twentieth Century Pop Culture, Warhol chose from classic Hollywood films, literature and television to reflect and transform true American idols into Pop Art iconic. As a child he found comfort in Mickey Mouse comics - an unlikely hero he idolized.
The fantasy figure from childhood, a quintessential American image, is a typical Warhol icon. The Myths portfolio encompasses Warhol's personal life experience and the magic of 20th Century American Pop Culture. The Mickey Mouse artwork is one of the most coveted images by collectors of all the Warhol art works.
The rare out of print large lithograph print measures 23 1/2" W X 23 5/8" H. It is printed on high quality heavyweight premium paper stock with vibrant ink colors in a matte finish.
