The pattern, originally crafted as a private dinner service for the Duke of Gloucester, brother of England’s King George III, is characterized by its profusion of fruits, leaves, flowers, butterflies, and exquisite 22-carat gold feathering. It remains one of the most popular dinner patterns in Mottahedeh’s collection.

This platter, reproduced from the original made for the Duke of Gloucester circa 1770, is part of the museum collection of Colonial Williamsburg. The pattern is contemporaneous with the end of the colonies and the birth of the United States of America.
