Circa 1814 Meissen botanical plate / dish decorated with large, vividly painted tulips on a branch, small insect on the rim and gild band border. Zoom into photos to appreciate in detail. It is marked on the underside with a rare blue crossed swords mark with a vertical bar below the hilts. This mark was used from 1814, the year Meissen Director Count Marcolini died. Count Camillo Marcolini was Prime Minister of the German Kingdom of Saxony, where the Meissen factory was located, as well as director of the Meissen works from 1774. He is known for elevating Meissen production standards to new heights. Objects of this period are considered of superior quality. In very good condition with minor glaze and gilt wear as shown.
