Framed & matted lithograph, unnumbered and signed in plate and printed by Atelier Mourlot. This composition was reproduced as a poster for the opening of the printer Fernand Mourlot's atelier in New York, in 1967. Atelier Mourlot was a Paris commercial studio founded in 1852. Originally started as a commercial studio producing wallpaper, it earned a reputation for elevating the process of stone lithography into an art form when it began in the 1920's to invite artists to create original posters and limited edition prints. Atelier Mourlot worked with such celebrated 20th century figures as Calder, Chagall, Dufy, Léger, Matisse, Miró, and Picasso, and was one of the largest and best known printer of lithographic art.
Joan Miró was a pioneering Spanish artist celebrated for his whimsical and surreal style, characterized by vibrant colors, playful shapes and symbolic imagery. Renowned for his exploration of the subconscious and connection to the Catalan landscape, Miró's artworks often blur the lines between reality and imagination, leaving an indelible mark on modern art.
