William Russell Flint was a Scottish artist born in 1880 in Edinburgh. He was an incredibly prolific painter who created thousands of oil paintings, watercolors and chalk drawings. He also did many illustrations for a variety of publications including The Canterbury Tales and The Odyssey. Best know for his landscapes and nudes, Flint received a knighthood in 1947 for artistic contributions.
This piece was done in chalk on paper. I love the simplicity. Unfortunately I was unable to find a date when he executed this nor any other sort of information.
