This Quimper Noel fish ornament is one of a series they made from ‘95-‘97 celebrating the bounty from the sea in Brittany.
This charming fish was modeled from an antique Quimper secouette (snuff box) carried by sailors in the late 19th century aboard wooden boats.
Fish Noëls depict "L'Armor of Brittany" dated:
1995 "Fishwife"
", 1996 "Fisherman", and 1997 "Sea
Flowers". Entirely handpainted by Quimper artists each piece is dated and in a limited edition of 1000. less
