Jean Baptiste Huet was born in Paris in 1745. He was a painter, an engraver and designer associated with pastoral scenes in the Rococo manner. He often exhibited at the Salon in Paris.
He became well known for his work in decorative work. He designed many toiles des Jouy which graced the homes of the wealthy.
Although Jean Baptiste Huet did many similar bucolic scenes very similar to this painting, I was unable to find any information about this particular work. This is likely a rare picture of his, perhaps somewhere in a private collection.
I do find this painting to be rather cheeky. The shepherdess appears to be dreaming of carnal love, or perhaps her lover has just left the scene.
This print is available on Hahnemuhle Fine Art Paper printed using the Giclee method.
The size is 11 x 14, unframed. less
