Jean-Baptiste Huet was a French Painter, Engraver and Designer known for his pastoral and genre scenes in the Rococo manner. In particular, as an engraver, he created copper-plate textiles, that captures the toile fabrics still seen today.
The concept of printing scenes from a manufacturing process exemplifies the Enlightenment fascination with human accomplishment.
I was unable to find any information about this particular painting, although Huet did many with the same bucolic sentiment. It is likely this painting is in a private collection and therefore quite rare.
It is a fun painting. You are not sure if the shepherdess is dreaming about carnal love, or if her lover has just left her to dream.
This print is offered on Hahnemuhle Fine Art Paper printed in the Giclee method.
The size is 11 x 14, unframed. less
