Firmin Baes was a Belgian painter born in 1874. His mediums included oil paint and pastels. His subject matter ranged from portraits, nudes, landscapes and interiors. He was a prolific artist who became skilled at working in pastels, a medium he used almost exclusively after 1900.
This painting is done in oils. You can see the paint brush strokes in the foliage. It appears that the woman is picking roses in the morning light. This light illuminates the flowers and it is such a peaceful scene. This lighting, I find, gives the painting an Impressionist feel.
This print is offered on Hahnemuhle Fine Art Paper printed in the Giclee method.
The size is 11 x 14, unframed. less
