The water ewer is a 1960 rendition of an older piece. It was meant to be put in the entrance way to welcome guests. The original use for the ewer was to hold water. The cap was designed to keep the contents cool. Originally brass chains held the cap to the handle.
You can see the design of the flowers is not as detailed as older pieces. The flowers are definitely 1960, not 1860. But it is effective and unusual. The cap can be removed and the ewer used
as a wonderful flower and vine holder for events such as weddings or anniversaries.

- There is a dent on the body near the bottom of the handle; The top has lost the pin to … moreThere is a dent on the body near the bottom of the handle; The top has lost the pin to attach to the body but it can be easily fixed with a new pin. There are two dents on the top. There is a little tear on the seam of the top. If you are handy, a sand filled pouch and a mallet gently pounded from the inside will help push the ewer wall back out. The copper is quite workable. The ewer is really for display, though it was thoroughly tinned inside. It does hold water without leaks. The copper is not as thick as the antique pieces I am selling and did not come from the same source. less
