A 19th century French Horloge de Parquet or tall case clock from Brittany. Elegant solid cherry case in two parts, with book matched panels and a chapeau de gendarme crown. Subtle details including marquetry inlay and carved shell motif. Embossed brass clock surround depicting farmers with a horse drawn plow. Hand-painted enamel clock face with name of the maker: Avenol Pere at Questembert. A seven day Morbier movement strikes on the hour, two minutes after and on the half. Brass pendulum visible through oval glass pane. Clock is in working order and has been professionally cleaned. Circa 1890-1900. Overall: 18"D x 21.5"W x 101"H. Body: 9.5"D x 15.25"W. Top: 11"D (18"D at crown) x 15.25"W (21.5"W at crown)
