Born in Providence, Rhode Island, Charles Gordon Harris first studied painting at the Rhode Island School of Design and, subsequently, under Herbert Cyrus Farnum, Stacey Tolman and G. A. Hayes. Over the course of a long career, Harris exhibited widely and with success, including at the Attleboro Museum of Art, and was the recipient of numerous medals, prizes and juried awards. He is listed in all relevant art reference works including Benezit and Who Was Who in American Art and was an elected member of art associations including the Providence Art Club, the Providence Water Color Club and the South County (Rhode Island) Art Association. less
